The rain found us early Thursday morning, but the Troon Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony battled through once again! After weather delays pushed the start back to noon, players and staff powered through a packed afternoon schedule with play wrapping up around 6:15 p.m.
Thursday featured exciting quarterfinal singles action, including Maria Florencia Urrutia’s comeback three-set win over No. 3 seed Haley Giavara, Bella Payne rallying past Kaitlyn Carnicella in three sets, and Savannah Broadus advancing with a strong 6-3, 6-1 victory over No. 2 seed Anna Rogers. Madison Brengle, Sofia Shapatava, Kylie Collins, Hannah Klugman, and Eryn Cayetano also advanced in singles play.
In doubles action, the top-seeded team of Eryn Cayetano and Haley Giavara, along with the No. 3 seeded duo of Savannah Broadus and Kylie Collins, both advanced to the semifinals. Two doubles matches were unable to be completed and will return tomorrow as the tournament heads into an exciting Friday lineup.
A huge thank you once again to our staff, officials, grounds crew, and volunteers for another incredible team effort in challenging weather conditions all week long!
