Gate Information

Security access gates have been installed on Westway Drive between Rte. 1 and Kent Ave. This page serves as your resource for all things related to gate access—including access instructions and how-to videos.

How does the security access system work?:

The security access system provides multiple access options, including barcode scans from homeowner and renter badges, homeowner and renter parking passes, RFID stickers, manual PIN entry, and remote operation by Security. This flexibility ensures convenient, reliable access for homeowners, renters, and visitors.

What does the security access system look like?

The security access system features a single swing, high speed arm that raises and lowers for each vehicle passing through. The gate arm is illuminated both day and night to increase visibility.

Where are the locations for the security access system?

Two security access points have been installed on Westway Drive between Kent Avenue and Route 1. Gates are located in the area of West Phases I–VI and XXII (located at Westway Dr. & Round Robin Way and Westway Dr. & Singles Ct.).

How do titled homeowners get access?

Titled homeowners may use their homeowner photo ID badge or their parking permit to scan for access. Place your owner badge or parking permit (barcode facing up) on the card tray until you hear a beep and the gate opens. Each unit is eligible to receive RFID stickers that automatically open the gate when within rage. Stickers may be picked up at the Sea Colony Beach Shoppe by a titled homeowner. Titled homeowners can find additional access information by logging into the Sea Colony Owner’s Site at www.seacolony.com/owners.

How do non-titled homeowners get access?

Non-titled homeowners may use their homeowner photo ID badge or, if applicable, their parking permit to scan for access. If for any reason an owner doesn’t have their badge or parking permit, they can connect with the Security Desk via intercom to request access. Sea Colony Security will have electronic access to the owners list to verify owner status and lift the gate. Each gate location will also have video capability for an additional level of security.

How do renters get access and when do renter passes expire?

Renters receive access passes at the same locations where they currently obtain their badges. Those renting through direct owner rentals, VRBO, Airbnb, or other rental management companies can pick up their passes at the Sea Colony Beach Shoppe. The temporary passes, featuring bar codes, will be valid only for the duration of the renter’s stay and will automatically expire at the end of their visit. If renters arrive after hours, Security can provide temporary access through the gate’s intercom system. Renters must check in at the appropriate office the following day to obtain their access credentials.

How do owners' guests get access?

A Daily Gate Access Code is generated each day and may be used to grant access for owners guests, food deliveries, rideshares, and other temporary visitors. Each code is valid from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM and changes daily. The code is posted daily on the Sea Colony Owners' website at www.seacolony.com/owners (titled owners must login to view the code). Security will also be able to provide access to the driver if appropriate.
IMPORTANT: Sharing codes with individuals who have no valid reason to be at Sea Colony will be considered a violation of owner conduct and will result in a fine.

How do fitness and racquet sports members who aren’t owners get access?

Seasonal fitness members and racquet sports members will be issued an RFID sticker, and their badge and parking pass will also provide access. While entry to the fitness center and racquet sports center does not re-quire a pass, access to Westway Dr. between Route 1 and Kent Ave. does. Credentials are valid only for the duration of the membership and will be deactivated once the membership has ended.

Does each gate cover the "exit" travel lane on Westway Dr. to prevent a vehicle from bypassing the entrance lane gate by traveling into Sea Colony in the wrong lane?

Exit gates have been installed to avoid wrong way traffic on Westway Dr. Exit gates do not require identification, they will automatically open upon exiting.

How do large vehicles get through before the gate closes, and how can unauthorized vehicles that try to piggyback their access be avoided?

Sensors embedded in the roadway and the security access system will monitor when an authorized vehicle clears the area to safely drop the gate.  Unauthorized vehicles attempting to tailgate risk damage as the gate closes immediately after the authorized vehicle clears.

Can bikes easily navigate around a gate on the roadway?

All bicyclists and pedestrians with proper Sea Colony credentials are required to use the pathways to go around each gate. Electric Bikes (eBikes), however, should always remain on the roadways if under power. Otherwise, Electric Bikes that are not under power should utilize the pathways.

How will standard delivery services get access? (UPS, FEDEX, Amazon, USPS)

UPS, FEDEX, Amazon and USPS make daily deliveries throughout the community and are provided with access by the Sea Colony Recreational Association.

How do one-time service or delivery providers gain access? (e.g., food, groceries, flowers, rideshares, and other similar deliveries.)

One-time service or delivery providers gain access by pressing the intercom button on the gate control box, which connects them to Security who will provide entry.

What if an “unauthorized” vehicle or someone without a gate pass arrives at a gate?

Visitors arriving at the gate may use the intercom to communicate with the Security Desk. Security staff can remotely open the gate or provide instructions for obtaining access. Each gate includes ample turnaround space for redirecting unauthorized or mistaken visitors. If a backup occurs due to unauthorized entry attempts, Security will be dispatched to assist. All entrances and exits are recorded, and repeat violations without valid reason or credentials will be reported to local or state police as trespassing.

Is the security access system connected to Sea Colony security?

The security access system is monitored 24/7/365 by the Security Desk Officer via cameras and a two-way intercom. There are cameras monitoring the ingress and egress for each gate location.

How will the security access system be handled under severe emergency conditions (hurricane, flood, evacuation etc.)?

The system has an override to “open all” that immediately opens all access points in the event of an emergency.

Will the security access system operate if there is a loss of power/natural disaster?

The system has battery backups in the event of power outages. For extended power outages the system will be open until power is restored.
