The United States Tennis Association (USTA) recently named Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware a 2022 USTA Outstanding Facility. Sea Colony is the only facility to receive this award three times, in 2012, 2016, and 2022, since the USTA Facility Awards Program began 41 years ago.

Each year, the USTA recognizes facilities throughout the country to encourage increasingly high standards for construction and/or renovation. The considerations for this award include the overall layout and adaptation to the site, quality of each court's surface and enclosure, evidence of good and green maintenance, player and spectator accommodations and experience, aesthetics and landscaping, and the facilities’ participation in USTA programs.

“Great tennis facilities like Sea Colony help us to grow the game at the grassroots level, and we are proud to recognize them for their ongoing impact on the sport of tennis,” said Craig Morris, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, USTA. “Sea Colony has embraced many of our tennis initiatives and kept the sport at the forefront of its community each year.”

“This is a highly coveted national award and highlights the continued excellence we present to our homeowners, renters, and guests,” said Richard Kent, Sea Colony Tennis Committee Chair. “I want to thank and congratulate all those that helped make this award possible, especially Thomas Johnston, Director of Athletics, who has helped raise the profile of our facility delivering world class programs.”

Sea Colony is one of the largest tennis and beach communities in the United States and is consistently ranked as one of the top tennis resorts in the world according to TennisResortsOnline.com.
