Day 5 - Tornado Warning & Tiebreak Thrillers: 2025 Troon Pro Women's Open at Sea Colony

Day 5 of the Troon Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony brought a mix of solid tennis and challenging weather. Play began smoothly under good conditions, but mid-day storms—including a tornado warning—caused delays and a temporary suspension of matches. Fortunately, the worst of the weather passed without significantly impacting the grounds, and play was able to resume later in the day, keeping the tournament on track.

In singles quarterfinal action, it was a day of shakeups and strong performances. No. 3 seed Ana Sofia Sanchez (MEX) [3] outlasted Alana Smith (USA) [8] in a tight 7-6(5), 6-3 battle. Jada Robinson (USA) stunned No. 2 seed Anna Rogers (USA) with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 win. Ayana Akli (USA) took down top seed Despina Papamichail (GRE) [1] 6-4, 6-2, and Fiona Crawley (USA) made quick work of Alexis Nguyen (USA) 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles saw equally thrilling action, including a comeback upset by Barrera Aguirre/Zampardo over Moore/Osborne 1-6, 7-5, [11-9]. Arakawa/Giavara [4] and Corley/Daniel [3] also advanced through the quarters, and both pairs pushed through the semifinals to secure their place in the finals.
