Professional women’s tennis returns to Bethany Beach this May

April 2025 – Some of the world’s top rising female tennis players will return to Bethany Beach, Delaware this spring for the Troon Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony, a USTA Pro Circuit $30,000 event, scheduled for May 12–18, at the Sea Colony Racquet Sports Center.
Hosted at one of the East Coast’s top-rated tennis destinations, the Troon Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony brings high-level competition to the beach, offering players the chance to earn valuable WTA ranking points on Sea Colony’s renowned clay courts. The event will feature qualifying rounds, a full main draw in singles and doubles, and is free and open to the public.
The tournament has a strong track record of showcasing future stars. Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins, now two of the top American players on the WTA Tour, both competed in earlier editions of this event before breaking through on the world stage. Other standout alumni include Caroline Dolehide, Louisa Chirico, Hailey Baptiste, Sophie Chang, Kayla Day, Grace Min, Ann Li, and Allie Kiick—all of whom have gone on to compete in Grand Slam events. Notably, Liv Hovde, the 2022 Wimbledon girls' singles champion, has also participated in the tournament, highlighting its role in developing future tennis stars.
Fans can expect a mix of seasoned professionals, young American talents, international up-and-comers, and local wildcards. The week also features a Kids Day on Wednesday, May 14, where Pros will be on hand to assist with activities, and a Wilson Demo Day on Saturday, May 17. Volunteers & Ball Kids Needed!
Sea Colony is seeking volunteers to assist with various aspects of the tournament. Volunteers will receive a tournament t-shirt, community service hours (if needed), and an unforgettable experience being part of a premier professional tennis event.
We’re also recruiting Ball Kids to take the court during finals matches on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. — assisting players, retrieving balls, and helping maintain smooth match flow.
