Day 6 - Singles Semis & Doubles Final - 9th ResortQuest Pro Women's Open at Sea Colony

… and then there were two.

Day 6 in the ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony – a $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit clay court event – ended with the crowing of the event’s ninth doubles champions and set the stage for Sunday morning’s all American singles championship match.

In a schedule change to avoid expected inclement weather, the tournament’s final match will begin at 9 a.m.

Singles semifinals:

  • Top-seeded American Usue Maitane Arconada defeated seventh-seeded Dea Herdzelas, of Bosnia/Herzegovina, 6-2 7-6(3) to advance to the finals. Entering the event at No. 281 in the world, Arconada hasn’t dropped a set in her march to the finals.

  • Wild card American Natasha Subhash needed three sets and more than three hours to dispatch Swiss Tess Sugnaux 7-5 5-7 6-3 to earn her finals appearance. Subhash entered the tournament ranked No. 793 in the world.

Doubles finals:

  • Top seeded American duo of Arconada and Hayley Carter claimed the tournament’s ninth doubles title after besting the third-seeded pair of Herdzelas and Slovakian Tereza Mihalikova 6-4 6-4.

Nations represented in Day 6 play were Bosnia/Herzegovina, Slovakia, Switzerland and The United States of America.

Again sponsored by ResortQuest, as well as the United States Tennis Association (USTA), UBS Financial and the Sea Colony community, this singles and doubles tournament runs through Sunday, draws nationally- and internationally-ranked women tennis players seeking world ranking points and a share of the event’s prize money.

Sunday’s singles final begins at 9 a.m. Admission is free and the public is invited.
