BETHANY BEACH, Delaware - Professional women’s tennis returns to Bethany Beach with the ninth annual ResortQuest® Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony – A $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit Event, to be held June 3-9, 2019, on the clay courts at the Sea Colony Tennis Center, located south of Bethany Beach at the crossroads of West Way Drive and Kent Avenue.

Again sponsored by ResortQuest, as well as the United States Tennis Association (USTA), UBS Financial and the Sea Colony community, this singles and doubles tournament draws nationally- and internationally-ranked women tennis players seeking world ranking points and a share of the event’s prize money.

The future of women’s tennis could be on the resort’s courts. In 2017, Danielle Collins entered the tournament at No. 194 in the world. After a number of high-profile wins, including a victory over Venus Williams at the Miami Open, and deep runs into major championships, Collins is currently ranked No. 30 and is competing in this year’s French Open.

Qualifying matches for this year’s resort tournament begin June 3, with the main draw – for singles and doubles - beginning on Tuesday, June 4. The tournament concludes with the doubles finals on Saturday, June 8, and the singles championship match on Sunday, June 9. In addition to singles and doubles play, the tournament events include a USTA Junior Play Day on Wednesday, June 5, at 4:30 p.m.

Admission to the tournament is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

In its current poll, Tennis Resorts Online (TRO) ranked Sea Colony among the world’s Top 20 camps and the No. 18 resort, as well as No. 4 for “Best Resort Junior Programs.” Sea Colony is one of only four destinations to make this year’s global Top 20 for both tennis resorts and tennis camps. In addition to the world-wide honors, the beach and tennis resort earned domestic accolades as a 2012 and 2016 USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year, as well as a 2017 and 2018 USTA Middle States Section Premier Provider. With 34 tennis courts, including six indoor and 14 Har-Tru, Sea Colony offers a wide variety of camps, clinics, and private lessons throughout the year for players of all ages and skill levels.
