In the end, there could be only one … and her name is Grace Min.
After an hour and 24 minutes on Court 23, top seeded Min defeated No. 3 seed and 2014 winner Katerina Stewart 6-4, 6-2 Sunday morning to become the eighth singles champion at the ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony, a $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit clay court event held at the Bethany Beach-area beach and tennis resort from June 3-10.
Atlanta, Ga.-native Min’s victory earned her a $3,919 pay day, 50 ranking points and an Alex & Ani bracelet. Entering the tournament at world No. 197, Min dropped just a single set in five matches on her way to the tournament title. With her win here (and the 50 point that came with it), Min jumped 14 spots in the world rankings and is currently No. 183.
Sponsored again this year by ResortQuest® by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, as well as the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Pro Circuit and UBS Financial Services – Richard Rogers, the singles and doubles main draws attracted nationally- and internationally-ranked women tennis players from nearly a dozen countries to the resort’s clay courts in search of higher world rankings and a share of the event’s $25,000 in prize money.
