8th ResortQuest Pro Women's Open at Sea Colony contested on the clay courts from June 3-10

Professional tennis returns to Bethany Beach with the eighth annual ResortQuest® Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony – A $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit Event, to be held June 3-10, 2018, on the clay courts at the Sea Colony Tennis Center, located south of Bethany Beach at the crossroads of West Way Drive and Kent Avenue.

Again sponsored by ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, as well as the United States Tennis Association (USTA), UBS Financial and the Sea Colony community, this singles and doubles tournament draws nationally- and internationally-ranked women tennis players seeking world ranking points and a share of the event’s prize money.

Entering last June’s Sea Colony tournament at No. 194 in the world, St. Petersburg, Fla’s Danielle Collins, a two-time NCAA champion, dominated the field, losing just 19 games in five matches enroute to claiming the event’s seventh title. Collins stepped into the national spotlight by crushing world No. 8 Venus Williams in a televised quarterfinal match at March’s Miami Open. Currently ranked No. 44, Collins will compete in this year’s French Open, contested later this month.

Qualifying matches for this year’s resort tournament begins June 3, with the main draw – for singles and doubles - beginning on Tuesday, June 5. The tournament concludes with the doubles finals on Saturday, June 9, and the singles championship match on Sunday, June 10. In addition to singles and doubles play, the tournament events include a USTA Junior Play Day on Wednesday, June 6.

Admission to the tournament is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

In its current poll, Tennis Resorts Online ranked Sea Colony among the world’s Top 20 camps and the No. 21 resort, as well as No. 5 for “Best Overall Children’s Programs.” A 2012 and 2016 USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year, Sea Colony is ranked among Tennis’ “Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the U.S.” – including No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic. With 34 tennis courts, including six indoor and 14 Har-Tru, Sea Colony offers a wide variety of camps, clinics, and private lessons throughout the year for players of all ages and skill levels.
