Safety Seminars have become a much- needed and very popular activity on Sea Colony’s beach. Every Sunday at noon, and other days as the Beach Patrol Captain deems necessary, the Beach Patrol will usher everyone out of the water to gather around the six lifeguard stands on the beach. The guards caution bathers about the beach and ocean conditions for that day/week. In addition to meeting the lifeguard, the bathers learn about rip currents and other educational tips. At this time the guests are directed to the Information Boards posted on the lifeguard stands. Guests should be reminded that conditions change daily and sometimes even hourly so it is suggested to attend each and every Safety Seminar. And as always, please feel free to ask questions! Learn more about Rip Current Awareness here.
Every Thursday (June 13- August 29) at 10 am-11:30 am between Lifeguard Stands 3 and 5 come out and build the grandest sand castle and see if your skills pay off. Register in the morning at 10 am at the back of the beach in front of Edgewater by the lifeguard shack. Judging begins at 11:30 am, so make sure all participants are at their sand creation. There will be prizes for first, second, and third overall, best family, most creative, and kids only. Winners are announced at the Beach Bonfire Party at 6:30 pm. Please note- no metal shovels allowed.
