Day 2 - Main Draws Begin at the 10th Annual Vacasa Pro Women's Open at Sea Colony



On the second day of action at the Tenth Annual Vacasa Pro Women's Open at Sea Colony, a prestigious $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit tournament, the qualifying rounds concluded, marking the official start of the main singles and doubles tournaments.


A thrilling display of tennis unfolded today over nearly eight hours. A total of 32 players hailing from 9 different countries showcased their skills, participating in eight intense singles qualifying matches, followed by four captivating main draw singles matches and four exciting main draw doubles showdowns. These countries include: the United States of America, Ukraine, Brazil, Hungary, Canada, Serbia, Germany, Taipei, South Africa.


Capucine Jauffret showed up today ready to win, and she did just that! Miss Jauffret beat 7 seed Rebecca Fiedler 6-1 6-0 advancing to the singles main draw. At only 15 years old, Miss Jauffret will play her first professional main draw singles match tomorrow. She showed up twice on the court, the second time with her doubles partner, Calla Mcgill. The longest match featured Katie Codd vs Piper Charney. The 2 seed Codd beat Charney 6-4 1-6 (10-8), clinching a spot in the second round main draw.

Looking towards tomorrow, wildcard doubles team, and locals, Adel-Byanu Abidullina (USA)/Eliza Askarova (USA) hit the court. This pair are the #1 doubles team for University of Delaware and are scheduled to play Brittany Collens (USA)/Mary Lewis (USA) at approximately 2:30pm.

Spanning through Sunday, this event attracts women tennis players from both national and international rankings, all vying for valuable world ranking points and a portion of the impressive prize payout.


Wednesday’s action kicks off at 9:30am with the second round of singles and doubles main draw play. Admission is free to all matches and the public is invited to spectate! Join us on Saturday, May 20 for the doubles final and Sunday, May 21 for the singles finals.
