Sea Colony Rec. Association Annual Meeting Postponed and Will Be Rescheduled in the Future; Annual Kickoff Party Cancelled for Now
Dear Fellow Owners,
As you know the COVID-19 pandemic has been having world-wide impacts on how we live and do business. Locally there is a high probability that it will affect our potential to safely conduct our SCRA Annual meeting that was scheduled for June 6, 2020. An online electronic meeting with a large member base is not practical. We believe it’s in our collective best interest to postpone the annual meeting and reschedule to a future time (to be determined) when we can be reasonably sure it is conducted safely without serious concern for your health and well-being.
In light of the postponement, there are several issues you should be aware of:
Election of Directors – The elections would normally take place at our Annual meeting. Sitting directors who have expressed desire to stand for re-election have agreed to continue serving until such time as an election can take place. A call for candidates will also take place once a new meeting date is determined.
Budget Ratification – The Board approved the proposed budget with no increase in assessments. This will allow us to continue operating the business affairs of the community without interruption. Knowing there are operating increases, and various fixed costs, and because we anticipate significantly lower revenues from many of our non-assessment seasonal sources, the Board has reallocated the assessment amounts between operating and long term reserve, to keep the net overall assessment increase at zero. We will continue to look at ways and act to reduce expenses as required, based on the duration of the pandemic and other factors. We will formally ratify the budget at the next Board meeting where owner attendance is possible.
Annual Owners Party Cancelled For Now –We all look forward to the Annual Owners party. Unfortunately, for everyone’s health and safety we’ll need to cancel this June event as well. We may revisit the question later in the season, but at this point, large group events where owners are in close proximity to each other give us too much cause for concern. Additionally, it is not yet known when state rules on gathering sizes will change, and exactly how they will change.
We’re all hoping the pandemic will soon be controlled so we can begin to enjoy the many great things that make Sea Colony so special. In the meantime, please stay safe and stay healthy! We’ll announce a time, date, and place for the Annual Meeting when it is practical to do so.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors,
Sea Colony Recreational Association, Inc.
