Sea Colony Beach

A half-mile of sandy private beach awaits you!

Our beautiful beach is guarded daily May 18, 2024 to October 14, 2024 from 10am-5:30pm (and until 6pm June 15, 2024 - September 2, 2024).  We have 6 numbered lifeguard stands during the season, each with a different color for easy recognition by all of our guests. Our lifeguard stands have information boards posted on the back with the daily beach and ocean conditions as well as any hazards.  Additional health and safety guidelines are posted, as well as Rules, which are posted at each beach dune crossover.

Please note: NO SMOKING OR VAPING OF ANY KIND is allowed on the beach.

Special Accommodations

Need assistance getting on and off the beach?

Sand wheelchairs are available at the Security Desk (302) 539-5599 in the Edgewater House Lobby free of charge.  Availability is on a first come, first served basis and we ask that they be returned to the Security Desk when not in use so that we can accommodate everyone's needs.

Beach Safety

Safety first at Sea Colony

The Beach Patrol staff is headed by Captain David Griffith. Captain Griffith has been guarding the shores in Delaware, Maryland, and Florida for over 35 years and here at Sea Colony for 25 years.

At Sea Colony, our goal is to provide owners and guests with the best experience possible, and we make safety our number one priority.

We highly recommend our guests read the rules and public health and safety guidelines posted and utilize the information on the back of the lifeguard stands.

The Beach Patrol staff is here to enhance the experience of every guest and we encourage patrons to ask questions.  Additionally, Sea Colony’s beach is a United States Lifeguard Association (USLA) advanced certified beach which upholds higher training standards for the Beach Patrol.  Most notably, this means all Beach Patrol guards obtain and maintain an Emergency Medical Responder certification

IMPORTANT NOTE: The beach and pools will close during any lightning event. The surf will be cleared and pools closed when thunder is reported and will reopen only when no additional thunder is heard for 30 minutes.
